Charity and Sponsorship of the Bank in 2007

In 2007, Raiffeisen Bank Aval continues its active charity and sponsorship activity, supporting socially significant projects and providing an aid to the people, who need it.

According to the Charity and Sponsorship Guide of Raiffeisen Bank Aval, the prior directions of the Bank’s charity are as follows: helping charitable organizations, which support child’s and medical institutions, veteran’s organizations, social organizations taking care of the aged people and invalids. Besides, the Bank provides a regular direct charitable aid to health care and social institutions as well as schools and preschools, public organizations, local authorities and the like.

Raiffeisen Bank Aval also strives to satisfy charity requests coming from private individuals, first and foremost, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the former Afghan warriors, the former employees of the Bank, invalids, children-orphans, aged people.

During the first three quarters 2007, the Bank supported 250 charity and sponsorship projects totaled about UAH 2.4 million.

Among charity projects, supported by the Bank, are the following: a charity tour around dozens of children’s homes and boarding schools, organized by the St. Maria International Charitable Fund; an educational project for children-orphans of the "Priyateli Detey" ("Children’s Friends") Charitable Fund; a charity project "Ukraine’s Children Have the Future", initiated by the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports; installation and equipment of a child’s playground in the center of Ivano-Frankivsk; a financial aid to the charitable fund "Food of the Life" for purchasing food stuff for a charitable café; targeted charity programs of protection of the needy people, realized by the all-Ukrainian charitable fund "Guarantor"; the support jointly with Raiffeisen International of an internship program in Austria for young physicians from Ukraine and other CEE countries, initiated by an American-Austrian foundation in Salzburg, Austria; payment for university education of some talented students-orphans on the initiative of the public and youth organization "The Brotherhood of Orphans"; a charitable contribution to the purchase of the equipment for women suffering from oncology via the charitable fund "Woman’s Health"; financing a trip of blind participants of the band "Vizerunky" to a contest in Kerch, organized by the Ukrainian Society of the Blinds; a financial support of the edition of the child’s literary almanac "Sunny Malvia" for its further forwarding to children’s homes and boarding schools, etc.

In addition, Raiffeisen Bank Aval provides a regular charitable aid to medical, educational and preschool institutions in the form of computer equipment. In 2007, we supplied computer equipment to 3 village schools in Kyiv oblast, the Kyiv National Technology and Design University, the Kyiv City Anti-tuberculosis Center, a specialized kindergarten and many others.

The volumes of the Bank’s financing to charity and sponsorship projects are steadily growing.

For 1Q 2007, the bank provided a charity and sponsorship support totaled about UAH 500,000.

During the period from April till July 2007, the Bank financed projects and requests about sponsorship and charity in the head-office and regions amounted to almost UAH 850,000, while in the third quarter the size of the Bank’s charity and sponsorship financing reached nearly UAH 1,000,000.

Long-term projects, contributing to the development of the Ukrainian culture, arts, education, science and sports, are top priorities of the Bank’s sponsorship.

Among sponsor’s projects, supported by the Bank in 2007, we would like to mention a concert tour around Ukraine "Face of the New Opera", organized by Volodymyr Gryshko’s Arts Foundation; the 4th International Folklore Fest "Krayina Mriy" ("The Dreamland") and a release of CD-discs "Musical Masterpieces of Ukraine", initiated by a well-known Ukrainian musician and singer Oleg Skrypka; a joint concert of the German Schiller band and the Ukrainian RadioBand of Olexander Fokin State Orchestra; the 4th International Culture and Art Festival "Salt Symphony" in Soledar, Donetsk regions and so on.
